It is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent for Christians who celebrate the liturgical church year. It is the 40 days before Easter, which for some people, is a time of reflection, prayer, reading, and fasting from various things. Lent has traditionally provided a time to take a step out of the routine of daily life.
It was during Lent last year, that life changed dramatically as words like pandemic and social distancing became a part of our life. What routine looks like now might be very different than it did at the beginning of Lent 2020.
Regardless of how you feel about your routine this Ash Wednesday, the Holy Spirit hasn't changed and is still ever-present. The Holy Spirit continues to invite us to take time to step out and find sacred space in our lives.
As a way of responding to this holy invitation, I invite you to join me in bi-weekly meditations during Lent to reflect, breathe, and contemplate the Spirit's presence. I will be leading virtual times of prayer and breathing (via Zoom) based on the ancient Christian Breath Prayer and guided by Sarah Bessy's book A Rhythm of Prayer. Both morning (7:30 a.m.) and evening (9:45 p.m.) options will be offered. All you need is 15 minutes, a phone or computer, and a quiet place. Email me if you are interested and we will focus on dates based on what works for those interested.
For those interested, who are not current spiritual directees of mine, a free will donation would be appreciated.
Please contact me directly if interested.
